All activities of the Graduate Program in Neuroscience, newest first.
Our Neuroscience faculty and students joined the event “At the Intersection of Mind, Machine, and Medicine,” held at Meeting Room 301, Rattana Wittayapat Building, Chulalongkorn Hospital. Dr. Sumeth Klomchitcharoen, one of our Neuroscience faculty members, was invited as a speaker and gave a talk on “Connecting Mind and Machine through the Language of the Brain.”
The Institute of Molecular Biosciences, Mahidol University, celebrated its graduates of Academic Year 2025 at the MB Graduation Party 2026. Faculty members, friends, and loved ones joined the graduates for a day of smiles, laughter, and warm wishes for their next chapter.
MB Alumni Talk 2026, a talk by Asst. Prof. Dr. Puey Ounjai, recipient of the Science Communication Award 2026. The session offered an engaging opportunity for students and alumni to explore storytelling and the vital role of bringing scientific knowledge beyond the laboratory and into society. Thank you to everyone who joined and made this a memorable event!
Our Neuroscience students joined faculty members and fellow students at the MB Wai Kru Ceremony 2026, held at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences, Mahidol University. In this Thai academic tradition, students express respect and gratitude to their teachers and mentors. Our students took the Wai Kru pledge and presented traditional flower trays and garlands to faculty members, making for a warm and memorable occasion.
The Neuroscience Graduate Program held its annual NEUROGRAD gathering, bringing together students from every cohort, alumni, and faculty members to reflect on their learning experiences and share feedback. The suggestions raised in these open conversations will guide the ongoing development of our curriculum for future students.
The International Program in Neuroscience, Institute of Molecular Biosciences, Mahidol University, organized the “NeuroAI: Exploring AI and Machine Learning for Neuroscience” Bootcamp at Salaya Campus. Led by Dr. Sumeth Klomchitjaroen, the three-day program covered machine learning foundations, neural data preprocessing, supervised learning for brain signals, Explainable AI, and real-world applications, helping students build the skills to apply modern AI tools in their research.
The Ph.D. Program in Neuroscience (International Program), Institute of Molecular Biosciences, Mahidol University, was recognized as one of 12 model programs achieving the AUN-QA standard at the AUN-QA Program Assessment Certificate Presentation Ceremony 2025. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuanchan Chutabhakdikul, Chair of the Graduate Program Executive Committee, received the certificate on behalf of the program and gave a Lightning Talk on “Data-driven Quality & Continuous Improvement.”
In the February session of our Journal Club, Ph.D. candidate Panuwat Sajjaviriyakul (Golf) presented a study on how short video addiction influences decision-making in college students aged 18–20. The findings show that it reduces loss sensitivity and leads to faster, more impulsive, and riskier decisions, with brain activity patterns resembling those seen in other addictive conditions. The session closed with recommendations for healthy use, such as setting time limits and choosing content intentionally.
The second Journal Club @MB session was presented by Mr. Pariyes Khumthong, an M.Sc. graduate and Neuroscience alumnus. In a one-hour talk, he discussed a study that used deep docking to identify potent inhibitors of Aβ42 aggregation from an ultra-large chemical library, showing how this approach can accelerate Alzheimer’s drug discovery.
The Institute of Molecular Biosciences hosted the first session of Journal Club @MB, featuring a presentation by Professor Banthit Chetsawang, Ph.D., at Room A108. He discussed a study showing that a new class of Vitamin K analogues with retinoic acid side chains has enhanced activity in inducing neuronal differentiation. The activity gives MB students and researchers a platform for knowledge exchange and critical discussion.
